Authorities Search Bronx River for Missing Toddler Believed to Be Dead

New York City – On Monday, law enforcement officials intensified their search efforts in the Bronx River for 2-year-old Montrell Williams, who was reported missing last month and is now feared dead. The New York Police Department (NYPD) suspects that his father, 20-year-old Montrell Williams Sr., may have thrown him into the river.

    Disappearance on May 10

Montrell was last seen on May 10 while on a custodial visit with his father. Surveillance footage reportedly captured the duo walking along the river on the day of his disappearance. Tensions had reportedly escalated in the family, as Montrell’s paternal grandmother had an argument with her son on the same day. It was only the day after the toddler vanished that she approached authorities.

Initial reports suggest that Montrell’s 17-year-old mother also reached out to police on Monday, expressing concerns over her son’s safety after receiving a troubling response from his father regarding his whereabouts.

    Confrontation Leads to Arrest

In a critical turn of events, Montrell’s mother encountered his father in Manhattan over the weekend and confronted him about their son’s location. During this confrontation, reports indicate that Montrell Sr. allegedly brandished a knife, prompting her to call the police. Sources claim it was during this distressing incident that he made a shocking admission, suggesting he had thrown their son into the river.

Currently, police do not believe that Montrell’s mother is aware of her son’s condition or location.

    Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

Montrell’s father appeared in court on Monday due to an outstanding arrest warrant linked to his failure to return Montrell to his mother. A judge subsequently ordered him back to jail after he refused to disclose any information about the toddler’s whereabouts. Despite these developments, he has yet to face formal criminal charges concerning his son’s disappearance.

Investigators are urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid the case. Divers continued their search efforts at the river on Tuesday, hopeful for any sign of the missing child.

This case continues to unfold, and authorities remain steadfast in their pursuit of justice for young Montrell Williams. As the investigation progresses, updates will be provided to keep the community informed.
