Prime Video’s Countdown: A High-Stakes Thriller Featuring Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane

New Series Tackles Murder and Conspiracy in Los Angeles

Prime Video has announced the premiere of Countdown, an action-packed series that brings together actors Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane. Slated to launch on June 25, 2025, the show explores the intricate web of a conspiracy that follows the brutal murder of a Department of Homeland Security officer.

Set in Los Angeles, the series features LAPD detective Mark Meachum, portrayed by Ackles, who is unexpectedly recruited to join a secret task force. This covert group, composed of undercover agents from various law enforcement branches, must navigate a treacherous landscape to track down the murderer. However, as they dig deeper, they uncover a more sinister plot that threatens the safety of millions.

    Filmmaker Insights

Derek Haas, known for his work on the One Chicago franchise, serves as the show’s creator. Expressing his excitement, Haas remarked, “I love making shows that keep you on the edge of your seat with nonstop action, drama, surprises, and suspense.” He is joined by a talented cast that includes Jessica Camacho, Violett Beane, Uli Latukefu, and Elliot Knight.

Ackles, who rose to fame on The CW’s Supernatural and later starred in The Boys, is enthusiastic about collaborating with the Prime Video team. He noted, "I had an incredible experience working with the Prime Video team on The Boys and am delighted to be able to continue that relationship on Countdown."

    Eric Dane’s Courageous Journey

Adding another layer of significance to the series is Eric Dane, who is navigating a personal battle following his ALS diagnosis. In a heartfelt statement released in April 2025, Dane expressed gratitude for his family’s support and affirmed his commitment to continue working, mentioning his return to the set of Euphoria. He asked for privacy as he embarks on this challenging chapter of his life.

    What to Expect

Countdown will premiere with the first three episodes, followed by weekly releases on Wednesdays. The trailer teases a gripping narrative where a team is summoned under the pretense of preventing a major attack in Los Angeles, only to discover that none of the recruits understand the full scope of their mission.

As anticipation builds for the series, it promises to deliver a compelling mix of action and suspense, while also highlighting significant personal stories from its cast.

Further updates on the series and its developments will be provided as the release date approaches.
