Upstate New York School Employee Charged with Sending Nudes to Minor

Elmira, NY—A former employee of the Greater Southern Tier Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) has been charged with felony counts after allegedly sending explicit photographs to a 14-year-old boy. Anamaria Milazzo, 22, was arrested on Monday in connection with the incident, which reportedly occurred over a span of three months.

    Details of the Allegations

According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began when a school resources officer received a tip about Milazzo’s actions. Investigators allege that Milazzo engaged in inappropriate electronic communication with the minor, sending lewd photos during this period.

Milazzo has been charged with second-degree disseminating indecent materials to minors, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child. After her arrest, she was issued a ticket and is scheduled to appear in Wellsburg Village Court at an undetermined date.

    Employment Status and Reactions

GST BOCES confirmed Milazzo’s employment but did not disclose specific details about her role or tenure at the educational facility. The organization has stated that Milazzo is no longer employed following her arrest.

“The safety and well-being of our students is of utmost importance. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement as this matter unfolds,” a BOCES spokesperson stated. The district has taken immediate steps to ensure a safe environment for all students.

    Victim and Context

The identity of the 14-year-old victim has not been released, and authorities have not confirmed whether he was a student at the school where Milazzo worked. This lack of clarity raises further questions about the extent of Milazzo’s interactions with students.

    Next Steps

As this situation develops, further details will be necessary to understand the full impact on the community and any measures that will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. Prosecutors are expected to address these charges promptly as the investigation continues.

This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding inappropriate relationships between adults and minors in educational settings, underscoring the importance of vigilance within schools to protect students from potential exploitation.
