Long Island Therapist Pleads Guilty to Distributing Child Pornography

Plainview, NY — In a harrowing case that has shocked the community, 36-year-old Renee Hoberman, a licensed social worker and child therapist from Long Island, confessed to distributing disturbing imagery and videos depicting the sexual abuse of infants. Hoberman’s admissions, made during a federal court appearance in Islip, underline the serious nature of her offenses, which included sharing graphic content via the messaging app Kik.

    Disturbing Confessions

The federal indictment revealed that Hoberman shared videos featuring the sexual abuse of a baby under one year old. While employed as a therapist serving children aged 17 and younger, she found herself in online forums where she engaged in grotesque role-play, pretending to be a father who sexually assaulted his own children.

US Attorney Joseph Nocella Jr. condemned Hoberman’s actions, stating, "The defendant admitted to distributing extremely vile and unthinkable videos depicting the horrific sexual abuse of babies. The videos the defendant distributed and sought for her own perverse pleasure showed the most innocent members of our society being restrained and violently raped." He added, "The defendant’s crimes should outrage and offend every decent member of our society."

    Online Activities and Investigations

Authorities began investigating Hoberman after receiving tips from Kik about potential child sexual exploitation. An examination of her devices uncovered a hidden folder containing explicit materials. The complaint noted that Hoberman also utilized multiple usernames, such as “badgurl854” and “Daddywhospanks Naked,” to facilitate her online activities and engage with like-minded individuals. She allegedly described explicit fantasies about abusing children and even invited others to visit New York to engage in similar acts.

    Facing Serious Consequences

Hoberman’s actions have drawn widespread condemnation and raised serious questions about the vetting processes for professionals who work with vulnerable populations. She now faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for her crimes.

Further updates on the case and any additional charges are expected in the coming weeks as federal authorities continue their investigation into the extent of Hoberman’s activities.
