Surge of Criminal Alien Arrests Amid Protests in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA — In a heightened crackdown on illegal immigration, the Trump administration has showcased a series of high-profile arrests of criminal migrants in the Los Angeles area, coinciding with escalating protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). These arrests have unveiled a troubling array of individuals with histories of serious crimes, including attempted murder, child molestation, and drug offenses.

    Notable Arrest: Emiliano Garduno-Galvez

Among the most alarming apprehensions is Emiliano Garduno-Galvez, who was arrested during protests on June 9, 2025, after allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at law enforcement officers. Garduno-Galvez, previously deported and arrested twice in the past year, was evading a detention order because of California’s sanctuary laws, which local law enforcement reportedly did not enforce.

"He represents the type of criminal illegal alien that protests are trying to shield," remarked Tricia McLaughlin, the Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. “The rioters will not deter our efforts.”

A Deeper Look at the Arrests

The recent sweeps in Los Angeles have resulted in over 330 arrests of illegal immigrants, many of whom possess substantial criminal backgrounds. Other individuals highlighted by ICE include:

    • Gerardo Antonio-Palacios: A Mexican national with convictions for homicide and burglary, previously deported.
    • Mab Khleb: A 53-year-old Cambodian, convicted of drug trafficking and lewd acts involving minors.
    • Sang Louangprasert: A 66-year-old Laotian with a prior conviction for sexual offenses against a child.

The alarming trends in these arrests reflect a disturbing profile of individuals involved in various violent and illicit activities.

    Protests Escalate

Local protests, which began on June 5 in response to ICE raids targeting illegal immigrant work centers such as Home Depot parking lots, have escalated into nationwide demonstrations. Activists are attempting to obstruct ICE’s operations, resulting in increased tensions in the region. Since Friday, violence has erupted, culminating in looting and confrontations with law enforcement.

Despite these disturbances, ICE has remained resolute, continuing its operations in the face of opposition. Over the past few days, additional protests have led to multiple arrests of demonstrators, including Wrackkie Quiogue, accused of carrying a Molotov cocktail, and others charged with assaulting federal officers.

    Law Enforcement Response

In an effort to restore order amid growing unrest, President Trump has deployed a significant number of National Guard troops to Los Angeles, supplemented by around 700 Marines. Authorities have imposed curfews to mitigate looting and criminal behavior.

As these events continue to develop, law enforcement remains focused on maintaining civil order and executing immigration laws, while activists insist on protecting the rights and welfare of undocumented immigrants.

The situation remains fluid with ongoing developments, and as new information comes to light, the community’s response to ICE’s actions and the resulting protests will undoubtedly evolve.
