Warrants Issued for Couple Accused of Child Abandonment

Waukesha, WI — Authorities have issued warrants for Jessica Borkert, 31, and James Domoracki, 36, after they failed to appear in court on charges of child abandonment. This case comes to light after their two young children were discovered living in deplorable conditions in a Waukesha apartment.

    Disturbing Discovery

Police responded to an urgent call on January 9, where they found the pair of children, ages 2 and 4, in a state described as “completely wild and unkept.” The children were alone with their grandmother, who has mobility issues and was reportedly unable to care for them adequately. Reports indicate that the grandmother informed officers that Borkert and Domoracki had left the children in her care two months prior without returning.

Upon entering the apartment, officers observed a chaotic environment cluttered with toys, garbage, and stained blankets. The unsettling conditions also included a bare mattress infested with cockroaches, where the children were found sleeping. Both children appeared dirty; one was noted to have bruises, scratches, and a strong smell of urine, raising considerable concern for their well-being.

    Parental Neglect

Borkert was later interviewed by detectives, during which she mentioned relocating to a motel in Oak Creek for work. However, her evasive responses regarding support for her children and grandmother raised red flags for investigators. Domoracki claimed he attempted to send food and supplies through Walmart but stated he had “run out of money.”

Investigators also discovered that much of the couple’s text conversations indicated ongoing involvement with narcotics, casting further doubt on their ability to care for their children.

    Legal Proceedings

Both parents were charged with two counts of child abandonment last month in Waukesha County. Despite being ordered to appear in court on Thursday, they failed to do so, prompting authorities to initiate warrants for their arrest. As the investigation continues, the children have reportedly been placed in safer, more stable environments.

This troubling case raises critical questions regarding parental responsibility and child welfare, as the investigation unfolds.
