Wisconsin Man Charged with Brutal Attack after Alleged Rape

Fond du Lac Incident Leaves Victim Hospitalized

A 34-year-old man from Wisconsin faces multiple serious charges after allegedly raping his ex-girlfriend and subsequently attacking her with a hatchet during a visit to her home. Hayden Daffinson has been charged with attempted murder, sexual assault, and seven additional counts following the incident that occurred on Sunday.

    Details of the Assault

According to a criminal complaint, Daffinson visited his ex-girlfriend’s residence to retrieve some of his belongings after their breakup. However, what began as an exchange turned horrific. The 38-year-old victim reported to the Fond du Lac Police that she had been assaulted with an axe shortly before 3 p.m. Officers responded promptly, providing aid until the victim was transported to St. Agnes Hospital. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later air-lifted to Theda Medical Center in Neenah for extensive surgery.

The complaint states that Daffinson struck the victim at least 25 times with the hatchet, inflicting significant injuries to her back, arms, hands, and head. She sustained two broken arms and several skull fractures, and doctors have indicated that she may require amputation of a finger. After the horrific assault, Daffinson allegedly declared, “F*** it, I’m just going to kill you, because I’m going to prison anyway,” demonstrating the gravity of his intentions.

    Detailed Police Response

Police apprehended Daffinson around 7 p.m. near Germantown after he led officers on a high-speed chase reaching speeds of up to 110 mph. The law enforcement agencies acted decisively, ultimately taking him into custody.

    Legal Proceedings and Implications

Daffinson appeared in court on Wednesday, where his bond was set at $5 million. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 31, and authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation unfolds.

The victim, currently hospitalized, is reported to be in stable condition following the emergency surgery. This incident underscores the alarming issue of domestic violence and its devastating consequences.

As details continue to emerge, both law enforcement and community advocates stress the importance of supporting victims of such violent crimes.
