    Teenagers Wounded After Shooting During Drag Race in Cleveland

    CLEVELAND, Ohio – Seven teenagers were injured early Sunday morning during a shooting that erupted amidst a reported drag racing event in the Lee-Miles neighborhood on the city’s East Side. The incident, which has shocked the local community, took place shortly after midnight near the intersection of Lee Road and Harvard Avenue.

    Incident Overview

    According to police reports, officers responded to multiple calls about drag racing in the area. As they were en route, officials received additional reports indicating that shots had been fired. The chaotic scene left seven young individuals wounded, necessitating immediate medical attention.

    • Victims: The injured include:
      • Two 18-year-old males
      • Three 18-year-old females
      • One 19-year-old male
      • One 19-year-old female

    Three victims were transported to a hospital by private vehicles, while the remaining four were taken by ambulance. As of this report, authorities have not released specific details about their conditions or names.

    Arrest and Investigation

    A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting and has been charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. His identity has not yet been disclosed. Officers from Shaker Heights apprehended him after stopping a vehicle that contained three individuals, all of whom were confirmed to have been present at the scene of the shooting. Inside this vehicle, law enforcement discovered three firearms.

    Additionally, a second vehicle used to transport two of the victims to the hospital has been towed for further analysis, revealing two firearms within it as well.

    This incident has raised significant alarm within the local community, as the presence of firearms at what began as an illegal street racing event underscores broader concerns about youth safety and gun violence.

    “We are urging anyone with information about this incident to step forward,” said a police spokesperson. “Every detail helps us build a clearer picture of what occurred.”
