Police Intensify Search for Father Accused of Killing Daughters in Washington
Wenatchee, WA – Authorities have ramped up their efforts to locate Travis Decker, a father facing multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping, in connection with the tragic deaths of his three daughters near a Washington state campground.
Murdered Children Found Near Campground
On June 2, Wenatchee police discovered the bodies of 9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn, and 5-year-old Olivia Decker near the Rock Island Campground. According to investigators, it is suspected that Decker killed his daughters during a scheduled visitation before fleeing the scene. The girls’ bodies were found approximately 75 to 100 yards down an embankment, with evidence suggesting they had been suffocated—each was found with zip ties on their wrists and plastic bags over their heads.
Search and Rekindled Hope
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has released an updated suspect flyer that includes potential changes to Decker’s appearance as he remains at large. Authorities have been conducting extensive searches in Kittitas County and neighboring areas. Following a recent tip, the investigation has focused on a sighting of a lone hiker near Colchuck Lake. Although police efforts included deploying tracking dogs and aerial searches, the individual evaded capture, prompting further urgency in the manhunt.
Between Monday night and early Tuesday morning, a UH-72A Lakota helicopter was utilized for aerial searches in the Teanaway Valley foothills, yet as of Wednesday, Decker has still not been apprehended.
Police Warning and Reward Announcement
Law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service, are collaborating on the search and have issued a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to Decker’s arrest. He is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing around 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts.
Given Decker’s military background, authorities are advising the public not to approach him if spotted. A police spokesperson stated, “Due to safety concerns, do not attempt to contact or approach Decker.”
