Progressive Church in Beavercreek Targeted by Vandalism
BEAVERCREEK, OR – June 17, 2025 – Beavercreek United Church has once again fallen victim to vandalism, prompting church leaders to express their deep concern over repeated attacks they believe stem from their progressive values, particularly their support for the LGBTQ+ community.
A Pattern of Attacks
The recent vandalism incident occurred late at night, and local law enforcement officials are currently investigating the matter. This isn’t the first time the church has faced hostility. In previous instances, church property has been defaced with graffiti and other destructive acts, aligning with the leadership’s belief that these attacks are motivated by the congregation’s inclusive beliefs.
Pastor Sarah Reynolds, a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and social justice, remarked, “We stand firmly by our principles of love, acceptance, and community. Unfortunately, it appears that our commitment to these values has made us a target for those who oppose them.” She emphasized the need for unity in the face of adversity.
Community Support
Reynolds mentioned that the church has received an outpouring of support from community members following the attack. “It has been heartwarming to see how many people believe in the importance of respecting diverse identities and beliefs,” she added. The church community has organized several meetings to discuss ways to bolster security and foster dialogue about inclusivity in the region.
Law enforcement officials have stated that they are working diligently to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice. “We take these incidents seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety of all community members,” said Officer Matt Harris of the Beavercreek Police Department. However, no suspects have been identified as of this writing.
Looking Ahead
As the investigation continues, church leaders are calling for a broader conversation about tolerance and respect within the community. They hope that, together, they can turn this negative experience into an opportunity for education and healing.
