Tragic Stabbing Incident at Frisco High School Track Meet

Frisco, Texas — A tragic incident unfolded at Kuykendall Stadium on April 2, when Austin Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School, was fatally stabbed during a UIL District 11-5A track meet. Frisco Independent School District has confirmed that they possess security footage from that day, but they will not be releasing it to the public, citing concerns over student privacy and school security.

    Incident Details

The confrontation reportedly took place after 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, a student from nearby Centennial High School, was found seated under a tent designated for Memorial High School students. Police allege that during an altercation, Anthony stabbed Metcalf in the chest.

    Security Footage Analysis

While the security footage captures the moments leading up to the stabbing, it only covers half of the stadium field, making it difficult to identify the individuals involved. According to reports, the video depicts sudden movements under the tent around 9:55 a.m., followed by an encounter between two figures. Frisco ISD officials confirmed that the tent is indeed the site of the stabbing.

As paramedics arrived shortly after the incident, they faced obstacles reaching Metcalf, who was located in the bleachers. Reports state that Metcalf’s twin brother, Hunter, held him in his arms until help arrived. "I tried to whip around as fast as I could. I looked at my brother, and I’m not going to talk about the rest. I tried to help him,” Hunter recalled.

    Aftermath and Legal Proceedings

Following the stabbing, law enforcement placed crime scene tape around the area and discovered the weapon used in the attack nearby. By 10:20 a.m., Metcalf was transported via ambulance, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.

Anthony is currently under house arrest and prohibited from contacting the Metcalf family. He faces a first-degree murder charge, and prosecutors plan to present the security footage to a grand jury in the upcoming weeks.

Updates on this story will be provided as new information emerges.
