Texas Man Charged with Capital Murder After Allegedly Administering Abortion Drugs to Pregnant Girlfriend

Parker County, TX — A disturbing case has emerged in Parker County where a Texas man, Justin Anthony Banta, faces capital murder charges after reportedly administering abortion-inducing medication to his pregnant girlfriend without her consent. This act allegedly resulted in the tragic death of their unborn child.

    Allegations of Coercion and Control

Banta, currently married, was engaged in a romantic relationship with the victim in September 2024 when she disclosed her pregnancy. According to reports, Banta suggested an abortion and mentioned plans to procure abortion pills online. However, the victim, who wished to carry the pregnancy to term, rejected the idea.

On October 17, during a meeting at a local coffee shop after her sonogram, the victim learned she was expecting a healthy baby with a strong heartbeat at just six weeks gestation. Days later, she experienced a miscarriage, which she suspects was a result of Banta secretly administering abortion drugs.

    Investigative Findings

Footage from the coffee shop reportedly shows Banta stirring a substance into a drink before presenting the victim with cookies. Subsequent testing of the cookies confirmed the presence of mifepristone and misoprostol, both of which are known to induce medical abortions.

Following the miscarriage, investigators seized Banta’s cell phone as potential evidence. During a police interview, he allegedly performed a remote reset on the device, leading to concerns about evidence tampering.

    Charges and Detention

Justin Anthony Banta was arrested earlier this month, now facing capital murder charges in Tarrant County, along with additional charges for tampering with physical evidence filed by authorities in Parker County. He remains in custody at the Parker County Jail as the investigation unfolds.

This harrowing case raises profound questions regarding consent and reproductive rights, highlighting the need for further clarity on legal responsibilities in such sensitive situations. As the legal proceedings develop, many will be watching closely to see the outcome of this deeply troubling situation.

No additional details have been released about the victim or any potential legal representations for Banta at this time. For the latest updates, follow local news outlets.
