Dundalk Man Arrested in Connection with Gun and Drug Crimes Following Road Rage Incident

    June 6, 2025 — Perryman, MD

In a concerning incident that highlights ongoing issues with road rage and gun violence in Maryland, Travis Dontray Thomas, a 26-year-old man from Dundalk, has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including felony assault and firearms-related offenses.

    Incident Overview

The trouble began on June 4 at around 11:00 a.m. when a driver reported feeling threatened by another motorist who allegedly pointed a silver firearm at them during a heated confrontation on the outer loop of I-695, just before I-95. Thankfully, neither the driver nor their passenger sustained any injuries during this alarming exchange.

In response to the emergency call, the Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative launched an investigation that swiftly identified Thomas as the suspect.

    Arrest and Discoveries

On June 5, authorities located Thomas at his workplace in Harford County and executed search warrants at both his place of employment and his residence in Dundalk. The searches led to the recovery of a loaded firearm and suspected cocaine that was packaged for distribution at his job, while two additional firearms were found at his home.

As a result of this investigation, Thomas has been charged with:

    • Two counts of felony assault
    • Two counts of misdemeanor assault
    • Use of a firearm during a felony
    • Possession of a loaded handgun in a vehicle
    • Possession of a firearm in connection with drug trafficking activities

Thomas’s apprehension underscores the concerted efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat gun violence not only on highways but also within communities.

    Community Safety and Ongoing Investigations

The Maryland State Police are committed to enhancing safety throughout the state, with a particular focus on addressing gun violence on highways. They continue to gather information regarding other violent crime cases, including the ongoing investigations into the murders of Delonte Hicks, Charles Marks, and Nyah Hairston.

Authorities encourage anyone with relevant information about these incidents or similar highway gun crimes to reach out to Maryland State Police at 410-538-1887. Callers can remain anonymous, thereby ensuring they can assist in promoting safer communities without revealing their identities.
