    Major Drug Operation in Hillsborough County Results in Over 200 Arrests

    TAMPA, FL — A significant law enforcement operation conducted by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has culminated in the arrest of 217 individuals and the seizure of narcotics, cash, and firearms. The month-long initiative targeted violent crimes and shootings in the South 78th Street corridor, reflecting a proactive stance by local authorities to enhance community safety.

    The extensive operation, which spanned several weeks, yielded impressive results:

    • Total Arrests: 217
    • Traffic Stops: 1,660
    • Citations Issued: 233
    • Warnings Given: 1,149
    • Search Warrants Executed: 3
    • Cash Seized: $21,841
    • Firearms Recovered: 15
    • Narcotics Seized:
      • 3,938 grams (approximately 9 lbs.) of marijuana
      • 48 grams of cocaine
      • 23 grams of MDMA
      • 62 grams of methamphetamine
      • 60 grams of fentanyl
      • 50 grams of spice
      • 20 grams of Xanax
      • 2 grams of ketamine
      • 476 grams of THC oil
      • 108 grams of oxycodone

    High-Profile Drug Bust

    Among the notable achievements was a drug bust at the 24K Express in Tampa, where authorities confiscated 5.2 pounds of marijuana, a significant amount of money ($15,927), 82.6 grams of various pills, and a large quantity of Sildenafil. Three individuals have been charged in connection with this particular incident: Kiran Seelam, 26, faces charges of possession and sale of cannabis, while Stephanie Gonzalez, 27, and Teeti Rezeq, 33, have also been charged with possession of cannabis.

    A Commitment to Safety

    Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the HCSO’s commitment to combating violent crime and ensuring public safety. "This operation demonstrates our commitment to public safety in our community and a zero-tolerance policy for violent crimes," Chronister stated. "When we see criminal activity threatening the well-being of our residents, we will take immediate action. The results from this operation prove that targeted enforcement works. We will continue to use every tool we have to make our neighborhoods safer."

    Crime Rate Impact

    Furthermore, the operation coincided with a notable decrease in crime. A comparative analysis of crime statistics from this year and 2024 indicates a 35% reduction in overall crime, suggesting the effectiveness of the HCSO’s targeted strategies.
