North Carolina Man Charged in Alleged Attempted Murder of His Wife

    Head-on Collision Raises Alarming Intent

In a shocking incident early Saturday morning in Raleigh, North Carolina, Anderson Singleton has been arrested and faces multiple charges after police allege he intentionally caused a head-on collision in a bid to kill both himself and his wife. The crash, which occurred just before 6 a.m., resulted in serious injuries for Singleton’s wife and two others involved in the collision.

    Eyewitness Account

The harrowing moment was captured on a witness’s dash cam, adding critical evidence to the unfolding investigation. Jorge Bravo, who witnessed the crash, recounted Singleton’s alarming confession directly after the incident. “He was like, ‘Oh, that’s not an accident. I was trying to kill my wife and myself. We were fighting each other,’” Bravo reported, noting Singleton appeared to be flustered and almost casual in his disclosure. “We’re definitely on the psych ward,” he added, reflecting the gravity of Singleton’s statements.

    Details of the Incident

According to the Raleigh police, Singleton deliberately swerved across the center line into oncoming traffic, colliding forcefully with a Toyota Camry carrying two men. An off-duty paramedic happened to be passing by and rendered assistance until emergency services arrived, underscoring the severity of the situation. Remarkably, law enforcement officials indicated that Singleton did not seem impaired at the time of the crash.

    Legal Proceedings and Charges

Singleton was arraigned in court on Monday, where a judge mandated that he stay away from his wife. He faces a range of serious charges, including:

    • Two counts of assault with a deadly weapon resulting in serious injuries
    • Assault with intent to kill
    • Careless and reckless driving
    • Driving left of center
    • Domestic violence assault
    • Stalking
    • Making threats

Due to the severity of the allegations, the judge ordered Singleton to be held without bond.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this distressing case, and more details are likely to emerge in the coming days. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential for domestic disputes to escalate into alarming violence, drawing the attention of both law enforcement and the community at large.
