Judge Sentences Calumet County Man for Attempted Child Enticement

Chilton, WI — In a sobering reminder of the dangers posed by online predators, Jesse Pool, a 44-year-old man from Calumet County, was sentenced to ten years in prison for his attempts to engage in inappropriate sexual contact with a minor. This ruling came from a Calumet County judge on Tuesday, following a no-contest plea to a serious felony charge.

    The Crime Unveiled

Pool faced a range of accusations, including child enticement through sexual contact and the use of a computer for child sex crimes. However, the state only pursued a charge related to the latter. According to a criminal complaint, Pool believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl via social media, during which he sent numerous messages and intimate videos over several days. Yet, unbeknownst to him, the girl was actually a decoy, part of an operation carried out by predator catchers.

Investigators revealed that Pool had arranged to meet the supposed minor at a Walmart in Green Bay, Wisconsin—an overt move that ultimately led to his arrest.

    Legal Outcomes and Restrictions

In addition to the ten-year prison sentence, Pool faces a decade of extended supervision post-release. As part of his sentencing conditions, the court has imposed strict restrictions designed to protect minors and prevent future offenses. These include:

    • No access to bars, taverns, or liquor stores.
    • Prohibition on contact with juveniles unless permissible by a supervising agent and when a parent is present.
    • Restricted internet access, only allowed with prior approval from his probation agent.

    Community Impact and Response

Local law enforcement officials, such as Brillion police, have expressed their commitment to safeguarding the community’s children from predators. This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and community groups to confront and address child exploitation in the digital age.

Further updates on the case and potential appeals by Pool remain pending.

As the justice system continues to navigate these complex issues, the case serves as a critical call to action for parents and guardians to monitor children’s online interactions more closely. The sentencing marks a step toward justice for victims and a warning to others who may consider exploiting minors online.
